EPDA SURVEY ON DROOLING:

In October 2020, the EPDA launched a survey focused on drooling (sialorrhea) – a very important yet often-overlooked Parkinson’s symptom.

This survey is aimed at people with Parkinson’s who experience drooling due to their condition, as well as at their family members and carers who may have important insights about the symptom to share. By collecting this data, we aim to understand the prevalence of drooling in people living with Parkinson’s as well as the difficulties this symptom causes – from a physical, well-being and daily living perspective. In addition, we hope to gather information about if, when and how this symptom is addressed by healthcare teams. The survey findings will help us create awareness among healthcare professionals about the prevalence of drooling as a symptom of Parkinson’s and the different treatment options available. The survey questionnaire takes no more than 10 minutes to complete and it is open until 15 November 2020. Midwest Branch News:

Dears Friends in the Midwest.
We are delighted to announce that we have been lucky enough to appoint a second Parkinsons Nurse Specialist to our Nursing team. This is a 50/50 arrangement with the HSE.
We were lucky enough to receive an inheritance from a lady who attended a fund raiser and could see the work of the Branch and what we needed.
Mags was finding it very difficult manging each side of the region trying to give every patient her time and care.
Nicola started with us on 17th August and has settled in extremely well.
She comes with great experience and knowledge of all aspects of nursing care and will be a great asset to the team.
Needless to say, Mags and Catherine are working very well with her.
Stay safe all of you. Our team will be writing to you shortly.
Regards
Una
